NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Here's what Jim Cramer had to say on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" Friday.
Cramer said Verizon (VZ) keeps getting the love from analysts, this time from Deutsche Bank, which upgraded the stock to buy from hold. VZ closed up 2.3% to $50.01.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) missed on earnings. Cramer said it was a bad report, mainly due to poor PC sales. AMD dropped 13.7% to $3.53. Baker Hughes (BHI) reported a "magnificent number," according to Cramer. He thinks the company may have finally gotten it together. BHI jumped 7.3% to $55.55. Raymond James downgraded Baxter International (BAX) to hold from buy. Cramer said it makes sense for the company to split up since it essentially has two different businesses. BAX closed 1.8% lower at $66. Amazon (AMZN) is higher because UBS said e-commerce is doing well, contradicting what eBay (EBAY) said on its conference call. Cramer suggested that perhaps "it's raining on eBay's side of the street." AMZN rose 5.8% to $328.93. Cantor Fitzgerald downgraded UnitedHealth Group (UNH) to hold from buy. Cramer said the company reported surprisingly poor earnings results. UNH fell 3.7% to $68.76. Advisors' Opinion:- [By Dan Caplinger]
The other big prospect for high-margin sales is the action-outdoor space, where VF has a nice lead in terms of financial performance. Columbia Sportswear (NASDAQ: COLM ) has much lower margins but also has a well-known brand presence that will pose a threat to VF in the long run. Bigger competitors such as Under Armour (NYSE: UA ) will also bear watching, especially if Under Armour decides to do what it's done in the past with footwear and expand into new markets with particularly promising profit potential.

It was only a matter of time. Last month BASF (NASDAQOTH: BASFY ) , the world's largest chemical company, announced three separate developments that will thrust it from being a mediocre player in industrial enzymes to a dominant force. BASF acquired Henkel's detergent enzyme technology, licensed the C1 biotechnology platform from Dyadic, and befriended Direvo Industrial Biotechnology from Germany for a next-generation animal feed enzyme.

Firms across Germany's DAX have caught on. BASF (NASDAQOTH: BASFY ) shares haven't had a great year so far, but the world's largest chemicals firm is looking around the world for growth. The company seeks to double its customer base in the Asia-Pacific region by 2020 in its chemicals and materials business, projecting sales in Asia to double from last year's 12.5 million euros to 25 million euros by that year. That kind of global growth will benefit investors, and the less BASF and other German stocks rely on Europe for sales, the better shareholders will do.
